During the Greater Harrison Chamber of Commerce Business@Breakfast event this morning I was reminded of one of the great things I learned about in my 2019 campaign: the Junior City Council program launched by then-councilwoman and current state representative Cindy Abrams. The young men and women of the Junior City Council spent time learning how our leaders are elected and what they do once they are elected, gained a deeper understanding of the workings of various city departments, met with local judges and much, much more. It saddened me to see the program whither last year.
Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction.

It is evident from current political events that active, thoughtful, and engaged leaders are needed at all levels of government. Good leadership doesn’t happen by accident. It must be cultivated from a young age. As a councilman I look forward to bringing back the Harrison Junior City Council program!
