Yesterday was primary day in Harrison and while it saddens me that Councilman Mains and I were barred by the state of Ohio from participating in the primary (read here to learn a bit about why this is the case) , I am excited to have officially begun our campaign.
It was exciting to be back out meeting people on the campaign trail yesterday! Despite being omitted from the primary ballot, Mike and I had the strongest presence at the polls yesterday of any candidate in this race:
- signs at all polling places introducing us and letting voters know that there WILL be a real choice to be made on the November ballot and not just a lame unopposed election like the major parties would prefer
- campaign volunteers out at the precincts for at least part of the day (all day in the case of the Harrison A precinct’s polling place)
- 2 very active, engaged candidates out talking with voters about what liberty really means and the issues that truly matter to the people of Harrison
If you followed this blog during the 2019 campaign you know that I have a pretty strong independent streak. It would have been easy to slap an (R) after my name and if all I had wanted was to win at all costs that’s exactly what I would have done. That’s just not me. I’m far more concerned with being true to myself and true to my upbringing. I’m fiscally conservative and more importantly I’m all about small, limited government the way the founders intended it to be. I am a Libertarian!
