So this is something completely new for me. After 45 laps around the sun I’ve decided to throw my hat into the political ring. There are 3 seats on Harrison City Council up for election this year. All 3 incumbents have chosen not to seek re-election. As I type this there are 3 candidates running on the Republican ticket for these 3 seats. Unopposed elections are one of the biggest disappointments in our political process.
This campaign is just beginning so I don’t know a great deal about my opponents. Key issues in this race will be
- Maintaining excellence in delivery of basic services
- Fiscal Responsibility
- Smart Growth
It seems like we all share a pretty consistent vision for the future of our great city so I believe the key differentiator is going to be who has the skills and the wisdom to work effectively as a member of council.
This is going to be a crazy ride, one that takes me way outside my comfort zone but in a good way. I hope you’ll check back often and help me with my campaign!
