Basic Services

Police and fire service, water, sanitation, utilities and roads are the foundation of a great city.  Unless a city does these things well everything else is for naught.  We are blessed to have outstanding services in our city but we need to be vigilant to avoid sliding backwards.

Fiscal Responsibility

Years ago I became a fan of Dave Ramsey and his “live within your means” message.  These principals have served my family well and that same message applies to city government.  Our first responsibility as a city is to spend the money we have wisely to serve our citizens.

Smart Growth

Growth is inevitable.  When you’ve got a good thing going others want to be a part of it, that’s just human nature.  The key is smart, balanced growth.  As a consultant I’ve served clients in all kinds of municipalities, townships and unincorporated areas.  The places that succeed have a strong business tax base and they work deliberately to develop residential, commercial and manufacturing/industrial concerns, putting everything in its right place.
