Thank You!

It’s 8:00 PM and the polls have been closed for a short while now.  It’ll be hours, maybe even tomorrow morning since this is an off year election that doesn’t draw as much media attention, before I know how I finished.

In the meantime there are so many people I want to thank.  Everybody along the way –  from the mayor and current council to the board of elections staff to past office holders I’ve met and appointed officials in our city – have been unbelievably helpful.  Their willingness to share info about our city and advice for a rookie politician has been incredible.  It makes me proud to live in this city where so many people care.  It’s easy to be jaded by the national political scene but my local experience has been awesome!

Thank you to friends, family and neighbors who put out a yard sign, helped canvass a neighborhood or gave a blog or a social media post a like and a share.

Most of all, though, I want to thank my family and especially my wife for her support as I learn the ropes on my first campaign.  We love watching The Office reruns and she’s been teasing me she’s going to start calling me “the councilman” the same way Angela calls her husband “the senator” if I win.  I’ll find out soon if I have a new nickname!

I think I’ll go watch some election returns before I turn in for the evening.  Good Night Harrison!
