To my friends and neighbors in Harrison:
This campaign is entering the home stretch so I wanted to share a bit of what I see from my vantage point. I entered this race for a couple reasons: I found the idea of an unopposed election unacceptable, with my children becoming young adults I have the time to commit to this, and most importantly I have the skills to serve this city.
Along the way I’ve shared a lot of perspective on what I think is important. I’ve also had the chance to learn more about the other candidates and it turns out none of our ideas or beliefs are extraordinarily different. The lists of things we stand for are quite similar – excellence in basic services, fiscal responsibility, and being smart about growth – and these are the topics that I’ve heard about from many of you as I’ve walked the neighborhoods of this city.
It would be easy to look at this and say “they’re all the same” so I’ll just check the first 3 boxes on the ballot or the three with an (R) after their name. This election is so very important to our city. There are no incumbents seeking reelection so nearly half of the council will be freshmen come January. This city needs our newly elected council to be able to hit the ground running with the will and the talent to lead. As a private citizen I’ve served on many boards and councils, providing energy and leadership to make the organizations I support great. As a 17 year resident I’ve had a front row seat for all that is good and not so good in Harrison. I’ve raised my children here and I’m proud to call Harrison home.
I know who my top 3 are on November 5th. I ask that you put me in your top 3. Together we can keep Harrison a place we’re all proud to call home.
Joe
