Precinct Changes

As an independent candidate I’m not on the Primary ballot next week but while doing some prep work for my campaign I noticed my polling place had changed.  I thought this was useful enough to share with my friends who may be voting in the Republican Primary.

It turns out there’s a fixed size that’s considered the ideal size for a precinct.  It looks like that number is about 1400 but I would defer to the elections experts with the county 🙂  As population shifts, voters get moved to different districts to balance things out.  Among other things this rebalancing helps to ensure no candidate has an unfair advantage by being  first on the ballot.  Every precinct can potentially have a different order of candidates.

Save yourself some hassle and make life a little easier for those working the polls, take 60 seconds to go punch your address in on the board of elections website and make sure your polling place hasn’t changed!
